Exams ahoy!!

Dear readers
The time has come to post another blog, on the state of affairs at this time of the year, in my life, which have mattered to me the most, to write about.
A coveted MBA, which seems to be one course almost everybody with reasonable potential seem to crave for or have in their bags already, is something I've also applied for, and been preparing earnestly for, the last six months, now. It just seems like any other course now, though, having got used to the subjects at hand, it has become a failry routine task preparing for them and taking the online exams. I have opted for the more unconventional mode of distance learning, instead of the regular full-time course, having opted to work for an MNC in the mean time, to gain industry exposure. Just hope the gamble pays off in the long run, in terms of good placements as well.

Work on the official front seems to be pretty much a routine now, with a few surprises thrown in, here and there, in the form of parties, which I may have to give the miss this time, with a few exams just round the corner, coming around the same time, the next couple of weeks. These parties are the best way to unwind for most of the employees, and is a good occasion for many people to get to know each other better, but clashes with a more important priority, namely exams at this point in time. Am sure there are many more parties to come, which I should not be missing out on.
Been missing out on a fair bit of partying in the recent past, as good friends seem hard to find in this city, though it is infested with too many people. Have to find the right people to network and hang out with, so that life is full of activities, in the future, without doubt. This certainly is the best time to expand contacts and get going, career wise, life can be quite a drag if you're not working for the right people, and don't take risks in the initial stages of your career.

The irregular schedule of these BPO's is a dampener, meaning you don't get Sundays to spend with family, on many occasions. It's certainly not a career worth pursuing for those who live a certain pattern of life, cause it can certainly put many weekend activities out of gear, especially as there is a fair bit of travelling involved, in my case, to get to work from home. Hopefully I do find the right career best suited for my temperament, and work on standing on my own two feet for the rest of my life, without being dependent on anybody else, and being privy to their prejudices and biases.
Well, enough said for now. It's time to get back to doing what I do best, and carving a niche for myself, slowly, but surely in this city of dreams, as they call Mumbai.
Many regards to my readers
Vaibhav.

Life at the crack of dawn!!

Hi folks,
It sure has been ages since I wrote a blog, now, never quite managing the time to do so, in the recent past. In any case, life keeps you busy with it's ups and downs, and it's sheer pace today leaves one with little time to contemplate on it's happenings.
I've quite neatly shifted into my third job in the space of three years in this city now, and this time, am going out with a specific plan in mind, that of working part-time so I can focus on cracking one of the most significant degrees in my life, the MBA. This is one wish I've had for many years now, and it looks like it will eventually come true in a copuple of years' time as well.

In the meantime, a part-time job as a customer relations advisor in a rapidly growing contact centre, which deals with troubleshooting for customers facing problems with their modems, and handsets, with a top-class firm is bound to be pretty challenging, and bring out the best in the thirteen of us, who have opted to work part-time, to focus on furthering our qualifications, as well.
It's a growing trend, in big cities, for college students to work as well, to gain exposure to the industry while they're still studying, the "learn while you earn" concept being extremely popular with youngsters in college today. Of course, the competition is also pretty hot in every industry, today, which means you have to ensure you're the best at what you're doing, in order to gain, and maintain a good reputation at work. I'd feel when one is in his early to mid twenties, it is the ideal time to look out for a job which would best the suit the individual's skills, rather than sit and wait for the ideal job to come about, as that can well take a lot of time, with the competition being as high as it is, today.
The best part today is many people dare to look outside of their spheres of work, and take the best options in terms of opportunities, which is a very encouraging sign. One also builds a strong support system with well-placed colleagues and superiors, to ensure that they are there to help when the chips are down as well.
Well, as of now , I'm looking forward to unwinding at our office party today, which promises to be a "class act", with a lot of performances and dances thrown in, and the unwinding session later in the day. A good time to let ourselves go, for those who have been working that extra bit, the last year.
That's all for now, I do promise to write more as and when time, and energy, are as high as they have been today.
Love
Vaibhav.
